Electronic Keyboard Cover and Stand
This cherry keyboard stand was built to make the full piano electronic keyboard feel and look a bit more like an acoustic piano. It already sounds like one, why not make it have some of the same features? The roll top covers the keyboard to keep dust and small fingers off. The music rack is almost full length and the acrylic is so clear you can hardly see it. It is fully adjustable and removable since it simply rests on felt feet. The back is removable and is built to allow easy access to the wires. The monster speakers sit under each end of the keyboard. It is finished all around and has a modesty panel if it ever gets moved to a public platform. The finish is several coats of Danish Oil hand rubbed. The carvings on the end are a bit of musical whimsy.
Quartersawn oak was the wood of choice on this piece. The legs are carved with oak leaves. Finished with several coats of clear rubbed lacquer, it will age gracefully. Its length is adjustable, but only two sets of rollers were ordered, king size and twin. Note details in the picture below, especially the acrylic ratchets. It can be disassembled without tools. All the knobs are hand carved, even the little ones which have gun stock style checkering for grip. The work height is adjusted by changing the angle of tilt. This is a deluxe model because it has cross tensioners on both ends.
